Being asked to describe yoga and aerobic classes in words on paper is like being asked to share an awesome vacation experience with pictures… it just doesn’t cut it. My heart felt response to anyone curious about a particular class on our fitness schedule is this…. give it a try! You’ve got nothing to lose. The hour you spend taking any one of our fabulous fitness classes, will more than make up for itself in what you gain in productivity and increased energy.
GENTLE HATHA YOGA: Start a yoga journey with this beginner yoga class! This is the perfect class for students who are brand new to yoga, students who have had very little yoga experience, and students who took yoga a long time ago. Hatha Yoga emphasizes a systematic approach that allows students to learn the basic techniques of proper alignment, breathing, meditation, and relaxation.
POWER FLOW YOGA: This is a more aerobic style class that improves strength and endurance. In this class, the poses are linked together with the breath. There is more fluid movement involved and thus, the pace in this class is quicker. Alignment direction is given for the poses, but there is an assumption that the student knows the basic forms of the poses.
RESTORATIVE YOGA: Our bodies have an innate ability to relax given the right circumstances. Restorative yoga uses a series of easy, supported poses held for a long time under the right conditions (including the use of many props) to tip the balance from “fight or flight” mode into maximal relaxation. Emphasis on complete muscular relaxation and comfort are emphasized to achieve a quiet state of mind and body.
SENIOR YOGA: Perfect for seniors but certainly not exclusive to seniors. This class is designed for those who want a basic, beginner level class. It includes yoga poses for the body, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. Students of all abilities are welcome to attend. Ann refers to her class as “healing yoga.” She specializes in combining mind, body and spirit with the power of a contagious positive outlook on life.
SUNRISE YOGA: Cultivate an energizing breath as your body moves through a series of yoga poses to naturally align the body as you calm the mind. Sunrise Yoga will invigorate the body and create a peaceful center to prepare you for the day’s events ahead.
HOT YOGA: Practicing yoga in a heated room helps to ease muscles and prevent injury when stretching. Hot yoga promotes total health by detoxifying the body through sweat and balancing every system in the body
BARRE: This ballet-inspired workout is a great way to develop lean muscle mass while improving your balance, flexibility, and range of motion. You will use an actual ballet bar to enhance your moves and have tons of fun in the process. Be prepared to work!
GOLDEN BARRE: A gentler version of barre class geared toward seniors, but certainly not limited to them! Everyone is welcome to experience the joy of the ballet bar with special consideration given to safety and posture.
BRICK: Something new to try for sure! BRICK is a triathlon training term referring to bike riding (in our case spin) immediately followed by running (in our case walk, jog or run). We will spin to 20 minutes of pumping music. Then we will walk, jog, or run on the beautiful OUTSIDE waterfall side track (so bundle up if necessary). This will give us a time for reflection, fresh air in our lungs and Vitamin D in the form of sunshine on our faces. The run portion can be done inside on the treadmill if you prefer. Either way, we track our time and our progress.
CARDIO CIRCUIT: Cardio circuit training is a great boredom buster. It offers cardio benefits AND sculpts every muscle to blast away fat.
INTERVAL TRAINING CLASSES: A full hour of cardio work including agility drills, spinning, stepping, jogging, etc. alternating with strength training to boost your metabolism in one hour of power!
KICK BUTT: We call it KICK BUTT in order to allow Christy to personally tailor her class depending on your needs. She is excellent at offering all levels of modifications and will do whatever it takes to kick your butt. Expect to be challenged but not overwhelmed in an interval, boot camp type style.
PILOXING: A unique mix of Pilates and boxing into a fat torching, muscle sculpting, core-centric, interval work out guaranteed to whip you into shape, using a format that is both fun and challenging.
SPINNING: A cardio workout on stationary bikes that is the ultimate calorie burner! Both beginner and advanced participants can work in the same class as you ride the flats, climb the hills, and push the sprints just as in an outdoor bike ride! Improve your endurance and strengthen your legs in this non-impact cardiovascular class.
TABATA: A cardiovascular blast! High energy interval training followed by shorter recoveries makes for 30 minutes of all out work! You will leave this class in better shape than when you arrived.
TABATA SPIN: Sam concept as TABATA except the whole workout is done on the spin bike.
TURBO BLAST: Each turbo blast workout offers agility drills and kickboxing as well as some step and circuit drills. You’ll scorch fat and sizzle calories while having a “blast!”
TURBO FIRE: Smokin’ hot music and exciting cardio conditioning moves. Lots of hooks and leaps to strengthen your core.
ZUMBA: Dance like there’s nobody watching! No rules apply. Leave your inhibitions at the door. Lose yourself in dance to ALL different music styles. The most fun way to burn calories imaginable!
4 MINUTE BLAST! Specially designed by Jody to train your body through 4 minute intervals. Fresh and “out of the box” fitness that will move from step to stairs to outdoors to punching bags, cardio machines and more. It’s never the same class twice!
Strength Training Classes:
BODYSCULPT: Reshape your body! By utilizing light weights, resistance bands, stability balls, and bosu’s, you will tone and re-define yourself by targeting those hard to find muscles.
LIFT & SCULPT, PUMP: Hit every muscle group with the bar then repeat all those muscle groups with hand weights. We’re talking PURE RESULTS!
POWER: Experience POWER as only Adam can deliver. He’ll use bands, the step and body weight to tone you up in body and spirit.
R.I.P.P.E.D.: Total body “plateau proof fitness formula” workout, utilizing resistance and cardio training, which masterfully combines Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, Endurance, and Diet to help you attain and maintain your physique in ways that are fun, safe, doable, and extremely effective.
ABS & POSTURE: An AB-solutely fABulous workout of abdominal and lower back work to sculpt your middle body and improve your posture.
AQUA: Dive right in and make a splash! With the sun as our light bulb and the white fluffy clouds as our ceiling, let’s enjoy the soothing and protecting power of the water to exercise in the great outdoors. Lots of fun and variety, including water yoga, ballet, dance, paddle work, toning, noodles, liquid abs and so much more. (Offered May – September)
GRAVITY: Exclusive only to THE FALLS in Lubbock! The Gravity Training System uses body weight as the resistive factor against gravity to produce an individualized workout that one can progressively increase in intensity as strength and performance improve. The class uses a wide variety of exercises and freedom of a dynamic pulley system to allow for enhanced muscle development.
LOL >LADIES ONLY LIFT: Join personal trainers, Keri and Angie, in the weight room for an exciting, new, introductory class designed just for women. Gain confidence in the weight room and learn all of the benefits of weight training.
*BASIC YOGA: Focuses on teaching basic yoga postures, healthy alignment of the spine, as well as strengthening the musculature that supports the body. If you have been wanting to begin a yoga practice to reap all of the health benefits that yoga has to offer…now is the time! *Offered in the group fitness room only.
